   Infrastructure and Privatisation Group

Solicitors in this practice group have been in the forefront of the practice of the law as it relates to the private development of infrastructure, especially in communications (specifically IT, telecommunications and broadcasting) and power in Nigeria.

We have a reputation for proffering sound legal advice on telecommunications law and regulation and are recognized as one of Nigeria’s leading law firms in this area. We have advised the Nigerian telecommunications regulator on issues of telecommunications law and policy, and international trade in telecommunications services. In addition, we advise several companies involved in fixed and mobile telephony, VSAT and new services such as GMPCS (Global Mobile Personal Communications by Satellite) service. Our expertise in this area includes advising on licensing and regulation, commercial and financing issues, etc. and supporting the start up of new telecoms companies.

We have been very active in providing legal support to participants in the ongoing privatization programme of the Federal Government of Nigeria. Work recently undertaken in this area includes provision of legal advisory services to the National Council on Privatization in the Concession of the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex, undertaking a full due diligence review preparatory to the partial privatization of the Nigerian Gas Company, the monopoly gas transmission and distribution company and in representing a bidder for the majority shares of a major oil marketing company.
